Banana

Once

Some when back

In the measures of

A few short years

There was a man

In a place

That needed a hero

And he didst

Answer that call

A normal man was he

Not the hero type

Like some superman

Who could all but do

Just anything

But a man

Who was right for then

Green for sure

With legs of wood

So slow and stiff

But he ripened quickly so

And by the end

He shone like a beacon

Ever so like

The banana

From green and woody

To ripe and soft

A tasty fruit

And so it was

A man found himself

And saved a place

A little town

He called home

Becoming a hero

Now you may laugh

As to how he looked

But the work he did

In his hero's guise

Was better than good

So he cared not

What others thought

And called himself

Banaan

In honour of

The banana
